The PIT: LEARN IT, LOVE IT, CRUSH IT!

1) While only Competitors, Judges, and CMC Staff can enter The PIT, there is PLENTY of room around the PIT for family and friends to cheer you on as you crush it!!

2) There is no arguing with the Judges – a no rep is a no rep. If you argue, you’re out.

3) Once your heat is called into the PIT, find yourself a vacant PIT station. Each PIT station includes: a box, Olympic bar, plates, kettlebell, CMC mat for burpee domination, and a dedicated PIT Judge who has been trained to expertly count your reps while providing coaching and motivation!

4) The PIT consists of a 5-minute AMRAP workout (As Many Reps As Possible) of 3 total movements. Your goal is to perform as many reps as possible of all 3 movements in 5 minutes, and your movements depend on your PIT Division (Alpha, Bravo, Delta, Charlie). So for example, Charlie Division competitors must complete 5 shoulder-to-overhead reps before moving onto 7 burpee over box jumps, and finally 9 kettlebell swings, then repeat as many times as possible in 5 minutes.

5) Your final score is your total number of reps, as reported by your PIT Judge. Please see the “SCORING” tab for more information.

The COURSE

“The event includes a six-mile mud run with all manner of Herculean military obstacles.” – Vogue Magazine, April 2013

CMC will test your ability to perform on diverse terrains where physical and mental grit are required to thrive. No matter the Division (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, or Delta), ALL Combiners begin the same world-class obstacle course just minutes after conquering The PIT. Your heart will be racing and your adrenaline pumping like never before. Prove mind conquers matter as you head to the Course’s Starting Line with your comrades and allies. No bottlenecks or crowds in your way, it’s just you and your teammates for the next 4+ miles. Run when you can, walk when you have to, crawl when you must, but NEVER give up.

SCORING

OVERALL SCORING

- Overall scores will be based off of a curved 200-point system.
- The highest score in each portion of the competition will set the standard for the day. All competitors will be judged against the day’s highest score.

Note: Combiners are not eligible for placing if ALL of the selected Division’s prescribed movements / weights are not performed. Example: moving down in Kettlebell weight.

THE PIT

- The competitor with the highest number of reps will be awarded a top score of 100 points. All other scores are graded along a curve between the high and low scores. For example, if the day’s highest rep count was 178 and the lowest was 55, the spread between high and low is 123 (178-55). A competitor who completes 109 reps in The PIT would receive a score of 44, since ((109-55)*100)/123 = 44 (rounded up).

OBSTACLE COURSE

- The competitor with the fastest run time will be awarded the top score of 100 points. All other scores are graded along a curve between the high and low scores.

SCORING DETAILS & RULES

- ALL CMC Competitors must complete The PIT before moving on to The Course. Choose your PIT Division:
ALPHA – BRAVO – CHARLIE – DELTA

- Participants are encouraged to pick a Division commensurate with their fitness level and ability.
- The PIT workout will be 5 minutes long and in an AMRAP format: As Many Reps As Possible.
- The repetition (rep) scheme will follow a 5-7-9 pattern per round then repeated for the entire 5 minutes.
- Each participant will be assigned a PIT judge to count the total reps for each participant. Total rep counts will be verified by the participant before he/she leaves The PIT area. All counts are final once participants exit The PIT.
- In the event of a tie, reps completed in The PIT will be used as a tiebreaker.
- Individuals can win team awards and special category awards in addition to individual awards (see AWARDS below).
- Participants will be eligible for multiple individual awards within each division (ie Top Female and Most PIT Reps in Alpha Division).

TEAM SCORING DETAILS & RULES

- Teams will be scored on the average score of all the team members.
